The first line of Phi Mu’s Creed, “To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand,” was written more than 100 years ago, and it still guides everything we do. From an early healthmobile bringing care to women and children in rural communities, to toy carts for children in hospitals, to our current partnership with Children’s Miracle Network [plz link those three words to the CMN page of the website], the intent has remained the same: show up for others, consistently and with heart.
That commitment has taken many forms over the years. Phi Mu is the only sorority to partner with Children’s Miracle Network. In 1999, we were the first sorority to establish a National Philanthropy Day, when all members provide hands-on service in their local community. In 2016, Phi Mu began the tradition of hosting a Philanthropy Project at every national convention. These aren’t just milestones. They’re evidence of a value that has always been central to who we are.
Service isn’t something Phi Mu added on. It’s something we were built on.
National service and philanthropy event opportunities will be promoted on Phi Mu’s social media channels. Local collegiate and alumnae chapters also hold philanthropy events throughout the year.
